Virginia IMBA Mountain Bike Festival — Memorial Day Weekend 2008

[ May 23, 2008 3:30 pm to May 26, 2008 3:30 pm. ] IMBA, the Virginia Mountain Bike Association, and Virginia mountain bike clubs are sponsoring a weekend of rides and fun in the George Washington National Forest near Harrisonburg, featuring rides in roadless areas. The event is a fundraiser for mountain bike advocacy in the mid-Atlantic states.

2008 Cross-State Ride and Governor’s ‘Bike Month’ Proclamation Ride

[ April 30, 2008 9:00 am to May 5, 2008 3:00 pm. ] VBF’s 2008 annual Cross State Ride will follow US Bike Route 76 from Yorktown through Richmond to Roanoke, where we will present the Governor’s Bike Mont Proclamation to Roanoke city officials. Some riders may continue on Bike 76 to the Kentucky border at Breaks Interstate Park.

Complete Streets Legislation in US Senate

Senator Tom Harkin (D-IA) has introduced the Complete Streets Act of 2008, to require that DOTs and MPOs adopt Complete Streets policies to remain eligeable for federal funds.
