RABA volunteers assemble and distribute new bikes for needy children
Thanks to the charitable efforts of the Richmond Area Bicycling Association, over 150 needy children in central Virginia will be getting new bikes for Christmas, through RABA’s Bikes for Kids program.
RABA raised over $9000 to purchase 158 new bikes for local children. The club works with local Christmas mothers to distribute the bikes to kids in 7 different localities.
This is the eighth year that Suzanne and Dee Nuckols have organized the assembly at their farm near Oilville, Virginia.
The Nuckols provide a staging area at their farm
In eight years, RABA has given away over 500 bicycles to community kids.
Around 4o RABA members spent the morning assembling and tuning the bikes. They will distribute them in early December.

Hello, my name is Phyllis Lane. I wanted to give my two twin boys new bikes this year, but my husband got hurt at work, and with the money coming in, we can’t afford them. They have been begging for a bike, and we want badly to give them one. We would appreciate it if you could help us. Thank You. If you could, please call me at (434)845-3851. Again, thank you!
