The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) has announced $373M in grant money to be awarded to 30 to 40 communities throughout the US, to reduce obesity and tobacco use. This is an excellent opportunity for Virginia communities to secure funding for major bike-ped projects and programs.

The Alliance for Biking and Walking has done an excellent job providing information about this new grant program, Communities Putting Prevention to Work (CPPW). The Alliance for Biking and Walking (formely Thunderhead Alliance) has announced a new program of Advocacy Advance Grants, to invest $250,000 in advocacy start-ups or innovative campaigns. Applications are open to Alliance members, or new organizations (less than one year old) that are not yet members.

These grants are designed to fund things that will be permanent, such as advocacy programs that will be ongoing, or innovative bike-ped infrastructure.
