WHAT: Cycling advocates from throughout Virginia will convene at Sophia House in rural Louisa County to share information and guidance on local and statewide cycling advocacy matters. This annual strategic planning weekend will address vital bicycling issues in your community and across Virginia. All VBF members are warmly invited for the full weekend or simply for a brief membership meeting at noon on Saturday where VBF members will elect our board of directors for the coming year and vote on proposed amendments to the VBF bylaws.
WHO: YOU and your cycling friends are invited to attend.
PURPOSE: As bicyclists, we increase our cycling advocacy work during the winter months to improve cycling conditions throughout the year. VBF requests state legislation annually to improve bicycling in Virginia and will actively monitor bills that affect bicycling during the 60-day 2008 Virginia General Assembly session.
VBF needs your help to achieve our common advocacy objectives, including the effective implemention of VDOT’s 2004 bicycle and pedestrian accommodation policy.
Bob Munson, Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation
Jakob Helmboldt, VDOT State Bicycle & Pedestrian Coordinator
David Dorfman, citizen-bicyclist consultant to VDOT/VTRC
