How To Report Potholes & Other Hazards

by admin on April 20, 2009

Potholes are an annoyance for all road users, but can be a serious hazard for cyclists. We wonder why they don’t get fixed, but it’s usually because no one bothers to report them!

VBF encourages all cyclists to report dangerous potholes. Call VDOT’s road problem hotline at 1-800-367-ROAD, or use the form at VDOT’s Report a Road Problem web page. Besides potholes and broken pavement, you should also report debris, washouts, malfunctioning traffic signals, or anything else that could be a hazard.

VDOT is not responsible for most in-town roads and streets, which are the responsibility of city and town governments. Every bike club should make available the contact information for their local governments’ public works departments.
