Why Become a Member?
If you believe in our mission, you can help support it. VBF takes the lead in representing cyclists in the state legislature, and in working directly with agencies like VDOT and DCR.
As an all-volunteer organization, VBF has relatively low costs — but they are there, for things like marketing and publicity materials, postage, and web hosting. Plus to encourage participation, we subsidize our events. This has been very effective in bringing people together. Our retreats are attended by VIPs from all kinds of government agencies and advocacy groups — VDOT, DCR, Virginia Tourism Corporation, Rails to Trails Conservancy, IMBA, Bikeleague, BikeWalk, Friends of the Rivers of Virginia, and more. Bringing everyone together greatly facilitates working toward common goals.
You can attend these events too, by becoming a VBF member. Get together with the folks who make things happen, and become part of the process. Besides, where else are you going to find an all-inclusive weekend getaway for $40?
Another benefit is links on our website. As of March 2008 we’re getting nearly over 3000 visits/month, and this is growing steadily. Get your club’s big ride listed in our calendar, a display ad on all the pages of our website, or just a text link to your personal website, depending on your membership level. Hopefully you have a neat biking site or blog, to share with other cyclists!
Memberhip Types
Individual
Attend VBF events at member rates, and get a link to your personal website on our Members and Affiliates page. 1 year, $30 — 2 years, $55 — 3 years, $75.
Family or Business
Same benefits as Individual but extended to family members, or employees/colleagues. A family or business may send 1 member to VBF events at member rates. 1 year, $45 — 2 years, $85 — 3 years, $100. If you’d like more than just a text link for your business, see our Sponsor and Patron levels.
Club or Organization
Get your organization’s rides and events listed in VBF’s calendar (”Events” weblog category, “Upcoming Events” section in sidebar). We feel this alone is well worth it, for the the low cost, highly targeted advertising. Send 1 representative to VBF events at member rates. Per year — under 25 members, $30 — 25-100 members, $50 — 100-300 members, $100 — 300-1000 members, $150 — over 1000 members, $200.

Patron
